Setting up Voice DNA takes just a few minutes. You'll connect your Gmail and optionally Slack accounts, run the analysis, and review your personalized style profile. This guide walks through each step from start to finish, including detailed information about the OAuth authorization flow, what to expect during analysis, and how to resolve common setup issues.

- A Pro or Ultra plan (Voice DNA is not available on trial)
- Gmail connected to your SalesSheet account (for Gmail analysis)
- Slack connected to your SalesSheet account (for Slack analysis, Ultra plan only)
- At least 20–30 sent emails in your Gmail account for meaningful results
- A modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari) with pop-ups allowed for the OAuth flow
Navigate to the Voice DNA Page
In the left sidebar, click the Voice DNA menu item (identified by the DNA helix icon). The Voice DNA page shows your current analysis status, source connections, and completeness bar. If you haven't run an analysis yet, you'll see a "Setup Required" badge in amber.
The page is divided into two main sections: the source cards at the top (one for Gmail, one for Slack on Ultra plans) and the Voice Profile Resumo below. Before your first analysis, the profile summary area will be empty and the completeness bar will show 0%.
Connect Gmail via OAuth
The Gmail source card shows whether your Gmail account is connected. If it shows a green checkmark, you're ready to analyze. If Gmail isn't connected yet, you need to complete the OAuth authorization flow.
Navigate to Settings > Integracoes > Gmail and click the "Connect Gmail" button. This opens a Google sign-in window where you select your Gmail account and grant SalesSheet read-only access to your email. The OAuth flow requests the following scopes:
- gmail.readonly: Allows SalesSheet to read your sent emails for Voice DNA analysis and email sync. This scope does not allow sending, deleting, or modifying any emails.
- userinfo.email: Identifies which Google account you are connecting so SalesSheet can associate the integration with your user profile.
After you click "Allow" on the Google consent screen, the window closes automatically and your Gmail card on the Voice DNA page will update to show a green checkmark with your connected email address. The entire OAuth process typically takes about 10 seconds.
About the Google Consent Screen
Google may display a warning that says "This app isn't verified" during the OAuth process. This is a standard notice for apps that request email access scopes. You can safely proceed by clicking "Advanced" and then "Go to SalesSheet (unsafe)" - the "unsafe" label refers to the app verification status, not any actual security concern. SalesSheet's OAuth integration follows Google's security best practices and uses encrypted token storage.
Run Gmail Analysis
Clique no botao "Analyze" button on the Gmail source card. The analysis runs in three phases:
- Collection (5–60%): SalesSheet reads your sent emails and extracts writing samples. On Pro, up to 50 threads are collected; on Ultra, up to 500. During this phase, the system strips out quoted text from replies, email signatures, and any non-authored content to ensure only your original writing is analyzed.
- AI Analysis (65–90%): The collected samples are sent to the AI for pattern extraction - tone, formality, vocabulary, and phrase detection. The model evaluates sentence structure, word choice frequency, greeting and closing patterns, and emotional indicators across all your samples.
- Complete (100%): Your style profile is generated and saved to your account. The raw email text is discarded at this point - only the extracted style patterns are retained.
The entire process typically takes 30–90 seconds depending on how many emails are collected. You can stay on the page and watch the progress bar, or navigate away - the analysis continues in the background and your profile will be ready when you return.
Connect and Run Slack Analysis (Ultra Plan)
If you're on the Ultra plan, you'll also see a Slack source card. If Slack is not yet connected, navigate to Settings > Integracoes > Slack and click "Add to Slack." This initiates a Slack OAuth flow similar to the Gmail process. You will be asked to select a Slack workspace and approve the permissions SalesSheet needs to read your messages.
Once connected, return to the Voice DNA page and click "Analyze" on the Slack source card to collect up to 250 Slack messages. The Slack collection happens server-side in a single request, so the progress bar animates smoothly during the wait. Slack messages add conversational tone data that complements the more formal Gmail samples, giving the AI a fuller picture of how you communicate in different contexts.
You can run Gmail and Slack analyses independently - they do not need to be run at the same time. If you run Gmail first and Slack later, the Slack results will be merged with your existing profile automatically.
Review Your Style Profile
Once analysis is complete, your Voice Profile Resumo appears below the source cards. Review your:
- Tone Resumo: A natural-language description of your communication style
- Formality Slider: Where you fall on the Casual ↔ Formal spectrum
- Trait Bars: Individual scores for Directness, Warmth, Technical depth, and Persuasion
- Signature Phrases: Your most distinctive recurring expressions, shown as teal pill badges
The status badge will change from "Setup Required" (amber) to "Active" (green), and your Voice DNA completeness bar will reflect the analysis depth. A completeness percentage above 70% indicates a strong profile that will produce highly accurate AI drafts.
O que Esperar After Setup
Once your Voice DNA profile is active, the following changes take effect automatically:
- AI drafts use your style: Every email or message drafted by the AI assistant will reference your Voice DNA profile. You will see a teal "Voice DNA Active" badge on AI responses confirming this.
- No manual activation needed: Voice DNA is applied automatically whenever the AI drafts content. There is no toggle or setting to enable - it activates as soon as your profile status is "Active."
- Profile evolves over time: You can re-run the analysis whenever you want to refresh your profile with newer writing samples. This is recommended every few months or after a significant change in your communication style.
Dica Pro
You can re-run the analysis anytime to update your profile - for example, after a few months of new emails that might reflect an evolved communication style. Click "Analyze" again on either source card to refresh your profile with the latest data. If you switch roles or companies, re-running the analysis ensures your AI drafts match your current professional context.
Solucao de Problemas
The analysis seems stuck or the progress bar isn't moving.
The analysis involves collecting emails and running AI processing, which can take up to 90 seconds. If the progress bar stalls beyond two minutes, try refreshing the page and running the analysis again. Ensure your Gmail connection is still active in Settings > Integracoes. If you have a very large Gmail account, the initial collection phase may take longer than usual on the first run.
My profile shows very low completeness after analysis.
Low completeness usually means too few writing samples were found. Make sure your Gmail account has a healthy number of sent emails (at least 20–30). If you're on the Ultra plan, connecting Slack as a second source significantly improves profile depth and accuracy. Also check that the Gmail account you connected is your primary work email - a secondary account with very few sent messages will produce a sparse profile.
The OAuth pop-up window doesn't appear or closes immediately.
This is usually caused by a browser pop-up blocker. Check your browser settings and allow pop-ups for app.salessheets.ai. In Chrome, you can click the blocked pop-up icon in the address bar and select "Always allow pop-ups from this site." After adjusting the setting, try the connection again. If you use a browser extension that blocks pop-ups, temporarily disable it during the OAuth flow.
Gmail shows as connected but the Analyze button gives an error.
This typically indicates that the OAuth token has expired. Gmail tokens can expire if you changed your Google password, revoked app access in your Google account settings, or if the token's refresh cycle encountered an error. Va para Configuracoes > Integracoes > Gmail, disconnect the account, and reconnect it. Then return to Voice DNA and run the analysis again.
Slack analysis says "No messages found."
The SalesSheet Slack app can only read messages from channels where it has been installed. If you primarily communicate in private channels or DMs that the app has not been added to, it will not find any messages to analyze. Ask your Slack workspace administrator to install the SalesSheet app in the channels where you are most active, then try the analysis again.
