How It Works in SalesSheet
Setting up your AI provider takes about 30 seconds. Open Settings, select your provider, paste your API key, and choose your preferred model. That is it.
Once configured, every AI interaction in SalesSheet - chat commands, email drafting, contact enrichment, data analysis - routes through your chosen provider using your API key. The key is stored as an encrypted secret on our server-side infrastructure (never in the browser), and all API calls happen through Supabase Edge Functions for security.
Supported Providers and Models
We currently support three providers, each with multiple model tiers:
- Google Gemini - Our recommended default. Gemini 2.0 Flash offers the best balance of speed, quality, and cost for CRM tasks. Flash Lite handles simple queries at a fraction of the cost, while Gemini 2.5 Pro tackles complex reasoning.
- OpenAI - GPT-4o for users who prefer OpenAI's reasoning style. Strong at structured data extraction and email composition.
- Anthropic - Claude for users who value nuanced, long-form analysis. Particularly good at deal summaries and pipeline reviews.
Switching providers takes one click. Your conversation history and CRM data stay intact - only the AI brain changes.

With BYOK, you see exactly what your AI usage costs. SalesSheet includes a built-in usage dashboard that tracks requests, tokens consumed, and estimated costs - broken down by model tier.
For most users, the cost breakdown looks something like this: 68% of requests go to Flash Lite (simple lookups and queries), 24% go to Flash (medium-complexity tasks), and only 8% go to Pro (complex reasoning). Our smart model routing automatically assigns each request to the cheapest model that can handle it.

Privacy and Data Control
